LYRICS FOR LITERACY 4 DELIVERED!

The recently concluded Lyrics for Literacy attracted the biggest turn-out yet in the series' young history. All our cool and hip friends were at the Nightingales Lounge in the East Village on November 18, enjoying the drinks, conversation and of course the performances of Arin Maya and Rick Kiamco. One of our favorite crooners, Akil Dasan showed up for the open mic and KILLED IT! We are grateful to all of you who came, and helped us raise funds for our literacy programs, dropped off books and also participated in our City Harvest food collection. Don't miss the Lyrics for Literacy series in 2011, party for a cause!

HELP US KICK-START OUR 2011 BOOK COLLECTION!

A constant supply of book donations is at the heart of what we do.

News about our book donation program is spreading in the areas where we have presence - and we need to step up our book collection efforts. We have so far distributed 9,000 books in 12 libraries, and trained over 200 volunteers in our reading program.

If you have leads, we are happy to hear about them, send us an email at donate@bkpny.org

Thanks to all our book donors, BKPNY met it's target book collection even before summer started last year. Last summer's beneficiaries included eight libraries: three in Mindanao, one in Laguna, two in Palawan, one in Sorsogon and one in Manila. As Fall rolled in, BKPNY also sent books to Ifugao and Pampangga. Several more public elementary school libraries received books before the end of the year, two in Palawan and another one in Pampangga, thanks to our sister organization, BKP in Massachussetts.

If you are interested in helping out with school supplies for any of our partner libraries, please email us at info@bkpny.org. BKPNY only currently sends books to our partners but we are aware that any donation of school supplies to our partner libraries would be appreciated.
